Materials & innovation

What goes into a Longstone.

Every pair begins with a choice of materials: leathers, membranes, outsoles and protective components, each one selected and tested before it reaches production.

This is not a matter of specification sheets. It is the difference between footwear that lasts a season and footwear that lasts years of real work, in environments that forgive nothing. Here are the materials we use and why we chose them.

  • High-performance leathersPremium full-grain leathers selected for abrasion resistance, flexibility and long-term durability, treated to withstand moisture, heat and mechanical stress. Perwanger® waterproof leather on every model.
  • Cut-resistant materialsCut-resistant layers, used in the Chainsaw line only, tested to EN ISO 17249.
  • Protective componentsToe caps and anti-perforation midsoles, on the models whose data sheet declares them.

Outsoles

Outsole technology & grip performance

Outsole performance is essential for safety and control. Vibram® outsoles, chosen model by model for grip and braking on wet and uneven ground.

Membranes

Dry inside, breathable outside

Sympatex® membrane linings, waterproof and breathable, as declared on the technical data sheet of each model.

From design to real-world testing

Innovation at Longstone is driven by real working conditions. Each model is prototyped in Nicosia and worn in the field before it goes into production.

Tested by independent bodies

Our chainsaw boots are tested by independent bodies and certified to EN ISO 17249:2014 and EN ISO 20345:2022. Hunting and outdoor boots carry no protective standard: see the certifications page.
